19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.
His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.
Presently training with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks the player's initial trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface since that period of that year.
Success also signifies he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 different competitions.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters at once, so to win a championship is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his previous six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.
His counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on court had prompted some to question if his capacity to perform at the highest level was concluded.
But the player has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.
The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a decider.
He defended four early chances in a tight third set before the champion broke to 15 to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he clinched the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
