Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other smeared cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police report early analysis show the substance was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; authorities are currently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the incident," they added.
City officials said they were trying "to solve the incident" and have requested to the public for information.
An important political figure stated the incident rendered him speechless and had to be solved quickly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in 2020.
